Taking over Erno Goldfinger’s magnificent Grade II-listed Haggerston School, everything on the show floor is for sale, it’s a midcentury furniture museum only you can buy every piece. With dealers including 20th Century Marks, Danish Homestore, MAR-DEN and Osi Modern, expect beautiful and rare items from the likes of Hans Wegner and Børge Mogensen. Entrance is £8 on the day, with trade and collector early entry at £15. It’s worth every penny, just to look around.

Build your own sailboat with Balmain’s DIY boating kit

While it might not be the yacht you’ve dreamt of cruising around the Caribbean in this summer, Balmain’s DIY Sailboat Kit is a pretty exciting weekend project to get you on the way. Including everything you need to make your very own sailboat, the kits comes with prepared wood, hardware, sealant, and glue, plus a sail, ropes, mast, boom, and gaff. For those who haven’t build a boat before (ie. you) there’s obviously a step-by-step guide in the box with detailed construction notes to walk you through each step of the process, you’ll just need a fairly well stocked toolbox, some aquatic paint and a fair amount of elbow grease. Honing his craft over 60 years, 85-year-old retired sailor Ray Gascoigne has been around boats his whole life, first as a shipwright, merchant sailor and now making remarkable impossible bottles. Magnus Pettersen pits concrete against glass on his amazing Leimu lamps

Manfactured by Finnish glass company Iittala, Magnus Pettersen’s Leimu table lamps produce a warm atmospheric light thanks to tinted copper colour glass lampshade which sits atop a concrete base. Rui Pereira and Ryosuke Fukosada’s ‘Bug Collection’ brings form and function to the bathroom

Anti-allergenic and resistant to mold and liquids, cork is perfect for life in the bathroom, used here as both a base and a holder. Debuting at this year’s Milan Design Week, the pair developed the collection long-distance, via Facebook, Skype and email, sending pictures of materials, prototypes and sketches back and forth until they settled on the designs and construction.
