From the creator of The Wire, The Corner is the show that inspired the all-conquering drama series. Adapting his own novel, co-written with Ed Burns, David Simon’s The Corner follows the strife and struggles of a group of addicts on West Baltimore’s drug corner. With superb acting, with many of the cast later moving onto The Wire, The Corner is a gritty, hard-hitting and thoroughly realistic series, showing all the early promise that made Simon’s latter effort so entertaining. Deservedly winning 3 Emmy Awards, The Corner has become somewhat forgotten after The Wire latterly conquered all, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t required viewing for any TV fans.
