Projecteo is an utterly cute and fantastically fun tiny projector for your Instagram shots

By Sam Bathe on 6 Aug 2013

After finding massive success on Kickstarter late last year, tiny Instagram projector Projecteo is now out in the wild. A matchbox-sized slide film projector, it couldn’t be simpler to make your first slide wheel, picking your favourite nine snaps from your Instagram account and then they’ll do the rest. Developed onto a single frame of 35mm Kodak film, the wheel slots into the Projecteo and you’re ready to go. Perfect for a holiday scrapbook, it brings back the days when your neighbour would pop over with their Rollei P35 and 1001 slides before talk you through each shot until the sun came up. Projecteo is available now from their website for $34.98 including a photo wheel, with further wheels just $8.99 each: www.getprojecteo.com

By Sam Bathe on 27 May 2013

Still only teased on their site inside a secret black box, details of Leica’s Mini “M” Camera have been more forthcoming ahead of the official introduction on June 11th. Boasting a 16.1 megapixel APS-C sensor and a fixed Leica Elmar 28-70mm f/3.5-6.4 lens, it will reportedly be manufactured from aluminium and support an electronic viewfinder plus HD video recording and come with Adobe Photoshop Lightroom in of the box. Given Leica’s trademark build quality the price is expected to be around the €2,450 mark, hopefully that’s not too much to put you off.

Skrekkøgle’s Plugg DAB Radio

Posted in Design, Technology
By Sam Bathe on 7 Feb 2013

A fantastic prototype from Skrekkøgle, Plugg plays on the phrase “put a cork in it”, with a cork literally turning the digital radio on and off. In a world where physical buttons are taking more and more of a back seat on electronic devices, pull the cork out and the radio turns on, then pop it back in to turn it off. Volume and station switching obviously require a little more control, but such simplicity is so great to see, and a really great innovation in design.

Behind The Scenes Of Nikon’s Nikkor Lens Production Line

The fight in the photographic world between Nikon and Canon seems to have been won by the latter in recent year, but I’ve always been a Nikon kind of guy, with the lenses especially performing very well. As they attempt a fight back, enjoy Nikon’s behind the scenes video of the Nikkor production line, held in high regard ever since the brand’s debut way back in 1933. They might hit Leica’s almost exclusive high notes, but it’s still impressive stuff.

Eastpak Core Series

By Sam Bathe on 10 Oct 2012

Eastpak have build their name on rugged and durable bags for anything from city wear, to traveling, to adventure sports, but with the new Core Series they’ve channeled their experience for technology. Show the rest of this post…

From the Floid backpack boasting a cushioned 15″ laptop pocket plus compartments everywhere you look to house your phone, cameras and more, to the Thomas, a carrycase specially designed for cables plus a top pocket for easy access to pens and other items. Of course, being from Eastpak, the range comes boasting their 30 years warranty, and while I wouldn’t go tackling any forest fires thinking your MacBook will still be fine, you could be mountaineering with your heart at ease.

Further across the range, the Talor is a tablet (read: iPad) specific case, with a handle for easy transportation and internal straps to keep your device snug in place. They have a proper laptop bag too, the Hylat, available in small, medium and large sizes, plus iPhone, iPod and iPad simple cases. Starting at just £25 for the Talor, the most expensive item is the big Hicks travel bag, available in a wealth of colours for £175, though after the recent stories of TSA hands going for a wander, you might want to keep tech. products a little closer to home in a Floid, just for now.
