The exquisite work of Chan Architecture, Abbotsford Residence in Melbourne, Australia, was designed around an existing double-fronted Edwardian home, adding rear and first floor extensions. Large existing trees proved a complication in the back and while site access was another problem, but innovative methods were developed to skirt the development issues. Curves in the design are both a form and function feature, creating more dynamic, fluid spaces, while references to the stereotypes of an Edwardian home can be found throughout.
