Richard Linklater’s slow-burn rise to prominence in Hollywood take another step with Bernie, and is hopefully a return to form for Jack Black too, a man whose star appeal has waned with his recent movies. Bernie tells the (true) story of a local mortician who strikes up a friendship with a wealthy widow, then kills her, but afterwards goes to great lengths to create the illusion that she’s alive. Bernie is in theatres April 27th, no dates yet elsewhere.
