Pushing Up all the way for best animated film of the 2009, falling only very slightly short, Wes Anderson’s stop-motion Fantastic Mr. Fox is a pleasure to behold, somehow going stride for stride with Roald Dahl’s legendary novel. George Clooney takes up the enviable role as Mr. Fox, accompanied by a who’s who of Hollywood, voicing his animal friends and the dastardly farmers they’re trying to best. The animation style came across as shallow from early footage but Anderson’s vision is nothing other than a success, and if Pixar had let up their game, would be a shoe-in for Best Animated Feature at the Oscars.
