Charlie Kaufman And Spike Jonze To Reunite

Writer/director dream team Charlie Kaufman and Spike Jonze are planning to re-team for an as-yet untitled and secret project. This constitutes news simply because of the two men involved, whose previous collaborations have given us the excellent Being John Malkovich and the brilliant Adaptation (pictured above). Any rumoured new project from this partnership is exciting news.

Kaufman’s last work was intensely personal and saw him directing and well as writing. The result was Synecdoche, New York, a great film which Roger Ebert recently announced as his film of the decade. Jonze’s last effort was 2009’s Where the Wild Things Are, which was visually impressive and moodily individual despite being a little disappointing overall.

Kaufman’s rumoured-to-be-working-on script Frank or Francis is apparently separate from this newly discovered joint venture, which as yet has no script but is being pitched to financiers. Someone will surely take it up before long. New Kaufman is always something to get excited about, and the team up with Jonze will hopefully make a trio of great collaborations between them. More news when we get it.
