SXSW Music kicks off next week, with the iconic festival taking over Austin for another year of the best up-and-coming acts. With the diverse line-up spanning the full spectrum of genres, there’s always something for everyone, with curiosity often rewarded by wandering into venues without looking at the bill.

That said there are still certainly a bunch of must-see bands this year, with Spotify, Fader, Pandora and more, all returning with unnoficial day parties before SXSW proper kicks off each evening.

Our picks for the festival include: jangly indie band Day Wave, R’n’B-hip-hop fusion act Anderson .Paak, indie rockers Sunflower Bean, dreamy beats from Astronauts etc., Spanish all-girl garage rock band Hinds, classic rock’n’roll band Seratones, synth-pop act Porches and garage punk band Twin Peaks.

SXSW Music runs from March 15th-20th. Walk-up passes will be available from the Austin Convention Centre when SXSW starts later this week.
