The Von Bondies are much more than a one song band, but after several years out of the scene, you could be forgiven for remembering little but the rapturous “C’mon C’mon”. Last night setting their sights on the conclusion of their European tour with a barnstorming London set at Scala, it acted as more of a showcase for what is to come. With taster EP ‘We Are Kamikazes’ ready in waiting on the merchandise stall and a handful of new tracks in the set, their next record, cleverly titled ‘Love, Hate And Then There’s You’, is shaping up to be The Von Bondies finest.
“Pale Bride” and “I Don’t Wanna” are amongst those guaranteed to cut the mustard, with frontman Jason Stollsteimer ripping through each chorus with his trademark aggressive vocals and punchy guitar. His only misgiving, inviting 10 members of the crowd up on stage expecting exact numbers… as if every fan wasn’t going to storm the barriers and make a jump for their hero.
Look out for The Von Bondies’ new record sometime in the summer.
