After a lacklustre end to the year, the first major music hopefuls spill their creative efforts this month. With new albums from Franz Ferdinand, Eagles Of Death Metal and The View, plus debuts from much-touted White Lies and Empire Of The Sun, it’s time to see how they all really shape up.

After last year’s writer’s strike, we have yet to feel the true extend of the delays put on a vast number of productions, but film in 2009 should a strong one, at least for the first two quarters. We also cast a gaze for some of this year’s main Oscar hopefuls, namely The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button, Milk, Rachel Getting Married and awards no-show Seven Pounds.

In our biggest art coup to date, we exclusively feature the work of artist, and designer behind cover art for punk band Gallows, Dan Mumford. On the style side, we tout the captivating photography of Valeria Lazareva.
