With preservation of the existing trees in the architects’ minds from the very beginning, trees interact with the living space, designing a structure free of columns with facades made largely from glass to connect the interior to what’s outside. Concrete forms the main structural element, though even that is crafted and shaped with real flair.

With the desks in simple lines rather than disruptive cubicles, much of the office is the expansive open space as its core, home to a table tennis table, a bunch of sofas and a couple of meeting rooms. The line between serious and playful is trodden with care and attention to detail, while the space maintains a suave feeling of sophistication throughout.

Blending of floor space, ranging windows and warm hard fittings to create a sense of homeliness in amongst the modern feel, with the help of 24,000 litres of storage tanks, all rainwater that falls on the roof is captured and recycled to support organic vegetable and herb gardens, while solar panels also provide the electricity for heating.

Tucked away into the hillside and overlooking a stunning lake, the chalet has been design to minimise interference to the view, while making the most of surroundings for its own residents, C7 is protected against fluctuating snow levels thanks to a ground floor constructed from local rock, anchoring the construction to the mountain.

Comprised of two main interlocking segments, the private spaces are located in the upper level within a timber brame construction, while an ethereal black steel structure supports the core of the house, with warmer woods bringing life to the kitchen and living space. Wonderfully, storm water is also channeled to the planters before returning to the grid, reducing the cost of irrigation.

Boasting warm timber panels throughout, flowing out into the garden, two entire walls of glass can be slide away leaving the most breathtaking of central living spaces. The V4 house has also been shortlisted in the housing category for the 2012 World Architecture Festival, no doubt thanks to some gorgeous vintage furniture too.
