SXSW Film Review: Premature

Though it takes a while to get going, Premature is a teen movie that tries to do something different. About a high school senior (Karna) who has to relive losing his virginity over and over again until he gets it right, every time he’s transported back in time to that morning and a rather embarrassing situation waking up.

It’s a bizarre and surprisingly clever concept that really makes the most of it for a lot of laughs. Some of the dialogue is overly crude but Craig Robinson is excellent despite a patchy American accen t. Premature has its fair share of problems but it also has the potential to become something of a cult teen classic, look beyond the flaws and it’s really a lot of fun.
