Paul Thomas Anderson takes on a trippy ’60s crime noir with adaptation ‘Inherent Vice’

Based on the Thomas Pynchon novel, Paul Thomas Anderson writes and directs Inherent Vice, set in the swinging, psychedelic ’60s. Following private investigator Larry “Doc” Sportello (Joaquin Phoenix) as he investigates the disappearance of his ex-girlfriend’s boyfriend, Katherin Waterston, Benicio Del Toro, Owen Wilson, Josh Brolin and Reese Witherspoon complete an all-star cast. Shaping up to be one of Anderson’s trippier films, crime noir Inherent Vice will hit theatres December 12th in the States and January 30th, 2015 in the UK.
