Disney Pixar have released a fresh batch of concept art for their forthcoming sequel Cars 2. The images portray protagonist Lightning McQueen (again voiced by Owen Wilson) speeding along raceways in various beautifully rendered locations in London, Paris, Japan’s Mt. Fuji and Italy’s ‘Porto Corsa’.The art style is fairly simplistic but lovingly produced in soft, warm colours with plenty of blend and blur effects. Hopefully the effort that has clearly been put into these pieces will be reflected in the finished product next year. Pixar veteran John Lasseter will direct the project alongside relative newcomer Brad Lewis (who directed the voice talent in the English dub of Studio Ghibli’s Ponyo). Cars 2 is scheduled to hit cinemas on July 22nd next year.
