Currently on set filming their new medieval adventure, the first shot of Russell Crowe as Robin Hood from the as yet untitled Nottingham tale has been release.

Under the direction of Ridley Scott, the Robin Hood update has gone through many changes in pre preduction. Rumours were it was originally going to be a spin on the classic Robin Hood versus Sheriff of Nottingham tale. The Sheriff would have been the main protagonist and Crowe in the lead. Then it was said that Crowe would play both the roles of Robin Hood and the Sheriff in the same movie. But now it looks like its just a fresh take on the original money-from-rich-to-poor-by-bandits plot . The cast is rounding out nicely with Cate Blanchett as Maid Marian and Mark Strong as Sir Godfrey, as well as William Hurt recently signing on. Everyone knows Ridley Scott can make some very good movies (see: American Gangster, Black Hawk Down, Blade Runner, Alien) so lets just hope it all goes smoothly until the proposed 2010 summer release.
