Gary Oldman (picture above in The Dark Knight) has been added to the ever more impressive cast of John Hillcoat’s forthcoming film Wettest County in the World, penned by frequent collaborator Nick Cave and based on Matt Bondurant’s novel. Oldman joins a cast list that already boasts Guy Pearce (another friend of Hillcoat), Shia LaBeouf, Tom Hardy and Mia Wasikowska.
The story will focus on three brothers attempting to make their way in prohibition-era America, while Pearce will play a hardened lawman on their trail. The last time Nick Cave wrote a screenplay, John Hillcoat directed and Guy Pearce starred, they produced The Proposition, an excellent modern western. On that basis we can be pretty excited about this one, which unfortunately is still a long way off.
