Guillermo del Toro is finally back directing this year with Pacific Rim, the first trailers for which were slightly underwhelming. But the footage since has been better and more exciting – the best couple of minutes we’ve seen so far are those in the Wondercon trailer above, featuring lots of stompy robots and a giant beasty getting hit in the face with an oil tanker. This is just one of a number of promising blockbusters coming out this summer, but it’s starting to look like del Toro might have something special up his sleeve. Pacific Rim hits theatres July 12th.
