Though denied an Oscar for his performance, Mickey Rourke’s career is well and truly back on track after a breathtaking turn in The Wrestler.

Playing fading fighter Randy ‘The Ram’ Robinson, Rourke’s moving performance is reminiscent of his turbulent own life as broken man The Ram struggles to adapt to life away from the ring.

One of the films of the year, The Wrestler really stands out from the crowd at a time when the DVD market is so overcrowded.
