Follow-up to hit and miss The Da Vinci Code, the first adaptation from Dan Brown’s best selling books, Angels & Demons sees Tom Hanks return as Prof. Robert Langdon, this time helping the Catholic Church stop a wanton terrorist from blowing up the Vatican City with a bomb forged from stolen anti-matter. Taking on the same clue hunt narrative as The Da Vinci Code, Angels & Demons starts to grow a little tiring as immediately Langdon is merely racing around Rome looking for clue after clue with endless over explanation despite the obvious plot. There are moment of excitement, but generally this is another disappointing film from director Ron Howard.
