Demetri Martin is taking leaps and bounds. Originally “just” a stand-up comic, he went on to do three comedy albums and several TV specials for HBO and Comedy Central. He then became a regular on the very popular The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, and the first season of his own TV show, Important Things with Demetri Martin, just finished up. Why is this all interesting? He’s now made a huge leap into mainstream cinema. With some small, lacking bit perfomances in minor comedies under his belt his next movie is Taking Woodstock, directed by Ang Lee, to be instantly followed up by a large part in the new Soderbergh-Pitt project, Moneyball. His appeal just got big-time and combining that with his Steve Martin inspired midjoke punchline comedy style, all makes him a very interesting character to keep on the radar.
