Film Review: Reuniting The Rubins

There are some films so bad, they don’t warrant a review. This is one of them.

With his mother on her deathbed, against his better judgement, Lenny Rubin agrees to get the whole family together one last time, but with his kids not on speaking terms, it proves an enviable task to keep the peace.

Across the board, from the script, to the direction, to the production values and set design, to the acting and dialogue, this is a ramshackle picture, languid and utterly underwhelming from the first minute to the last. There are really no redeeming factors, while a painfully stereotypical soundtrack undermines what could have been the sole emotionally involving moment.

To talk about Reu niting The Rubins in any greater detail would be giving it more thought than did any of its cast and crew, so I’ll cut this review short by simply saying: avoid, at all costs.
