
The start of SXSW proper, unofficial day shows were-a-plenty on the Wednesday, but we opted to see some old friends, and the recently resurgent, Eastern Conference Champions first. More

It’s taken a week to recover, and the jetlag still rears its head every 5am, but at last we’ve found a minute to document our trials and tribulations at this years SXSW, and it was a lot of fun. More
With our SXSW write-ups to come very soon indeed (thanks jetlag for the delay), first up check out on of the more chaotic events of last week’s SXSW, and something of a mini-riot at Death From Above 1979’s secret show at the Beauty Bar. With mace sprayed into the crown, and a police lady running up and down waving her taser around to keep the crowd back, at last the show was shut down, though some 15 minutes later when the band again too the the stage, so did the crowds, and it happened all over again. Oh how we love you, SXSW. Back next year for sure.

With a cold front landing on Austin, nevermind a little more unwanted rain, the SXSW crowd were a little taken a-back on the final day, but that didn’t mean the line-up was any less impressive, just the outdoor stages were a little more empty. The day show at Galaxy Room, however, was half indoor, and the inside stage boasted some of the best bands at the festival. More

The third day at SXSW is always the day you crash. Hungover, starved of sleep and energy and with ears that had to quickly get used to a hell of a lot of music, Thursday is always so hectic that on Friday you have to take it easy. More

In terms of reputation for showcasing the world’s most promising musical talents, there is no festival more renowned than SXSW. Every year providing a launch platform tomorrow’s next big things, the largely industry only event attracts a heap of big names to headline alongside the many promising new talents, with almost every band you’ll be listening over the next 12 months putting in time on stage.
This issue is a SXSW special, picking out the breakthrough performances of this year’s festival, along with those hyped for greatness that fall back on their potential.

When you think romantic comedy, sadly it’s awful one dimensional movies like He’s Just Not That Into You and Bride Wars that come to mind, not the sweet and charming indie offerings like Juno and Garden State. Though they could all be construed as a rom-com, the sub-genre puts the indie films in a bad light by mere categorisation with the Hollywood productions. More
