The trailer that received a trailer of its own is out “at last”, rebooting the 1990 Arnold Schwarzenegger picture, “as the nation states Euromerica and New Shanghai vie for supremacy, a factory worker (Farrell) begins to suspect that he’s a spy, though he is unaware which side of the fight he’s on.” Out August 3, get ready for more trailers first.
From Juan Jose Campanella, director of the Oscar-winning Secret In Their Eyes, Foosball is quite a change of direction for the talented filmmaker, following ”an underdog who, with the help of foosball figures that come to life, must take on a star soccer pro to save their village.” There’s no release date as of yet, but watch with bated breath as more details come to light over the coming weeks/months, there’ll be festival berths on the way for sure.
Starring that guy out of New Girl, and that girl out of Parks And Recreation, Safety Not Guaranteed sees Mark Duplass place a lonely hearts ad, looking for a female partner to travel back in time with. Aubrey Plaza even smiles, so that’s something to look forward to as well. Colin Trevorrow’s Safety Not Guaranteed hits theatres on June 8th.
The only thing better than a trailer, is a trailer for a trailer, so today, Total Recall fans are in luck. Coming on Sunday is the full preview, but the teaser still reveals a lot of interesting details and gives a nice flavour of Len Wiseman’s Arnold Schwarzenegger-less reboot, and to his credit, it looks kind of like Blade Runner. Out August 3.
Revealing perhaps too much of the story from Sacha Baron Cohen’s upcoming The Dictator, a new trailer reveals General Aladeen has his beard unceremoniously shaved off and is forced to live life as a pauper as no-one recognises him any more. Directed by Larry Charles and co-written by Alec Berg, The Dictator is out May 18th.
First let’s clear up that this isn’t an English language remake of the excellent South Korean monster movie of the same name, second, it proves that apparently Twilight’s Stephenie Meyer has written other books. The second of her properties that’ll likely go huge on screen, it sees Saoirse Ronan struggle to survive and save humanity in a world where aliens have fused with our native population to create an “ideal society”. Hopefully writer/director Andrew Niccol will be back to his Lord Of War form, rather than last year’s In Time. In theatres March 29, 2013.
Thought the trailer’s a little French, this red-band teaser for Cosmopolis sure looks promising, teaming little Mr. Perfect with one of the most talented directors around. Cronenberg wrote it too as Pattinson’s character looks to be one messed up individual as branching out from Twilight seems to be paying dividends. Cosmopolis is out May 23.
Following Disney’s removal of ‘Of Mars‘ off the title for John Carter, Ridely Scott returns to the Alien world in what is widely considered one of the most-anticipated films of the year. I guess sci-fi isn’t a big turn off after all…
The unwanted closer to a now apparent Men In Black trilogy, the latest outing sees Agent J go back in time, working again with a now younger, but equally stubborn, K. Out May 25th, it’s in 3D as if you needed to be told.
Richard Linklater’s slow-burn rise to prominence in Hollywood take another step with Bernie, and is hopefully a return to form for Jack Black too, a man whose star appeal has waned with his recent movies. Bernie tells the (true) story of a local mortician who strikes up a friendship with a wealthy widow, then kills her, but afterwards goes to great lengths to create the illusion that she’s alive. Bernie is in theatres April 27th, no dates yet elsewhere.
