After visiting wood sculptor Josh Vogel, of Blackcreek Mercantile & Trading Co., Kingston, New York, in late 2010 to research a feature, The Scout became so besotted they returned again, this time to focus in on his relationship with wood, the the idea that sculpting is a reductive process that steps back in time; as each layer is shed, the years are taken away, an idea Josh is very aware of when he produces his work.
